After a fairly long day of shooting and driving my workshop group and I arrived in the Eastern Fjords just above the town of Seyðisfjörður. Low clouds hung over the landscape with a promise of clearing towards sunset. After some refueling with some excellent coffee from Kaffi Laura we headed up towards the waterfall Gufufoss for some later afternoon photography.
After getting the group set up and oriented to the area around Gufufoss, I crossed over the river to scout a location up near the higher walls of the cliffs where I found this unnamed, multi-tiered waterfall, that flowed into the larger river that feeds Gufufoss. Here the intensity of the Fall colors was on full display as bright green moss merged with the reds, greens, and yellows of the highland plants. The subdued light was perfect and the whole of the landscape glowed.
If you want to capture the beautiful colors of Iceland’s Fall then please join me on my 2020 Fall in Iceland Photography Workshop where we will explore many beautiful locations such as this. You can find all the details right here.
